HMS SOFTWARE UPDATES DCAA COMPLIANCE SOLUTION AREA
Publishers of TimeControl timesheet software update guidance on how contractors can fulfill DCAA requirements for timecards
Montreal, September 14, 2009, HMS Software, a leading provider of enterprise timesheet and project management solutions, has announced that is has updated its solution guidance area to assist contractors who must be compliant with the US Defense Contract Audit Agency
The US Defense Contract Audit Agency () is responsible to ensure that contracts that fall within its jurisdiction are properly accounted for. The DCAA auditing standards have been adopted by a number of US-based agencies including Homeland Security, the Department of Energy (DOE) the Department of Transport (DOT) and others. These standards can also be imposed on sub-contractors to those who are providing products and services to prime contractors on such projects.
"Many of our clients are now required to comply with DCAA standards for timesheets," says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. "Given our extensive list of defense, aerospace and energy clients, we have had to ensure that TimeControl could meet those standards for well over a decade."
There are a number of aspects to DCAA compliance but one of the key components is the collection of timesheets or timecards. The DCAA does not endorse any software products nor does it recommend any such products. There is no DCAA certification for products such as TimeControl yet not every timesheet system can meet the stringent requirements of the DCAA's "Information for Contractor's" Guidelines.
There are 11 major areas that the DCAA has identified as timecard oriented in their guideline to contractors. We have studied these areas and ensure that TimeControl maintains any changes in the DCAA standards.
"There are a number of functions within TimeControl that were designed with the DCAA criteria in mind," explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services for HMS. "Functionality such as ensuring that only the employee who did the work can edit or approve changes to his own timesheet for example or settings that make sure that changes to a timesheet must be routed back to the original employee for approval are specific to organizations who wish to use TimeControl in a DCAA compliant environment."
With DCAA compliance now extending from the largest of projects to many more organizations some of which are not experienced in how to comply with the timecard requirements, HMS has updated its solutions area with several resources including a white paper on using TimeControl within the DCAA requirements, and a slide presentation showing specific functionality within TimeControl when it is configured for DCAA compliance. Also included is a checklist of what configuration steps to take to make sure the TimeControl setup is following the DCAA standards.
